Belgium: SNCB Ends On-Board Ticket Sales from 1 July 2026

From 1 July 2026, the Belgian national railway SNCB / NMBS will end ticket sales on board their trains. This ensures that all passengers are in possession of a valid ticket before boarding.

What This Means for FIP

From 1 July 2026, it will no longer be possible to purchase any tickets on board SNCB trains in Belgium – including FIP discounted tickets. All passengers must be in possession of a valid ticket before boarding.

FIP 50 Tickets at Ticket Machines

There are plans to make tickets with a 50% discount available at SNCB ticket machines for SNCB staff. These could potentially also be used for FIP 50 Tickets. However, official confirmation is still pending. For employees entitled to the FIP 75 discount (e.g. National Rail), there does not appear to be a solution at this time.

We will keep you informed as more details become available. In the meantime, check the SNCB page for the latest information on ticket purchase options.
